ABOUT THE POSITION

This is a hands-on, working supervisor in a CNC manufacturing environment supporting government and defense-related customers. This role is responsible for leading daily shop floor operations, supervising personnel, establishing best practices, and ensuring safety, quality, and performance standards are consistently met.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate job expectations and evaluates job results through effective coaching, counseling and disciplining of employees. Must initiate, coordinate and enforce systems, policies and procedures including visual management systems and attendance tracking.
  • Ensures employees in production area are provided with specific direction and empowered to meet daily operational goals. 
  • Ensures employees in production area maintain compliance with training requirements and are properly on-boarded.  Document processes, standard work instructions and ensure staff are cross-trained to provide adequate coverage.
  • Improve effectiveness and efficiency through continuous improvement activities
  • Responsible for creating a safe work environment, training individuals on proper safeguards including PPE, monitoring the work environment for safety risks and ergonomic issues; participates in and conducts safety audits including recommendation and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Establish effective working relationships with all departments and external parties to provide customer-focused improvement activity.
  • Act as a working supervisor in a CNC manufacturing shop, providing direct leadership and hands-on support
  • Establish, document, and enforce manufacturing best practices to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and compliance
  • Monitor employee performance and conduct ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance appraisals
  • Ensure adherence to government and customer requirements, including documentation, quality standards, and process controls
  • Gather, monitor, and report on key metrics, such as productivity, quality, scrap, rework, and safety performance
  • Ensure employees are properly trained and compliant with company policies and procedures
  • All other duties as assigned by Management

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • 5–7 years of supervising employees in a manufacturing environment, preferably CNC machining
  • Strong understanding of CNC manufacturing processes and production flow
  • Experience working with government or defense customers is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop employees
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in manufacturing
  • Able to read and interpret technical documents and specifications.
  • Experience with implementation of automated equipment from start-up to full-scale production preferred.
  • Familiarity with current versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experienced at using an MOS, ERP or the like preferred.
  • CAD/CAM software experience preferred
