EaglePicher is headquartered in St. Louis, MO with manufacturing and research and development facilities in Joplin, MO, Seneca, MO, Pittsburg, KS, East Greenwich, RI and in Southbridge, MA.

 

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Director-EHS will be responsible to align Environmental, Health and Safety processes with business goals and to engage employees to promote behaviors that will achieve the highest levels of productivity in the safest possible manner. The Director-EHS will be responsible for ensuring company compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations and will establish, implement and oversee all EHS programs. The position will report to the VP of Human Resources/ EHS

Responsibilities

  • Partner with leadership to drive initiatives and engagement across multiple facilities
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) regarding interpretation of federal, state and local EHS regulations and company’s compliance
  • Set EHS goals and strategies that are aligned with corporate targets
  • Lead, develop and manage local EHS staff members (6 direct reports across 6 facilities)
  • Lead EHS audits and inspections developing remediation plans, as well as driving preventative and corrective actions as needed
  • Lead multi-media environmental compliance including, but not limited to: Water (waste, storm); Waste (hazardous and non-hazardous); Air (internal respiratory and external emissions) Soil (sampling, testing and remediation)
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with federal, state and local regulators
  • Lead Continuous Improvement initiative regarding EHS policies and programs
  • Manage budgetary responsibilities
  • Lead, develop and implement employee training programs regarding EHS behaviors/compliance
  • Strong individual contributor who is able to provide hands-on training, coaching of others
  • Actively participate in external organizations (i.e., NFPA) as needed
  • Effectively use methods of risk mitigation (engineering controls, administrative, PPE, etc.)

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in EHS, Industrial Engineering or related discipline preferred
  • U.S. Persons
  • Extensive EHS experience in manufacturing facilities
  • Demonstrated success managing and developing a staff of EHS professionals
  • Demonstrated success leading efficient and effective compliance programs regarding Federal, State and local Safety and
  • Multi-Media Environmental regulations
  • Demonstrated success driving safety metrics improvements and change across an organization
  • Ability to stay abreast of federal, state and local safety and health regulations
  • Previous experience and working knowledge of workers’ compensation
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • ISO / OHSAS experience preferred
  • Experience working in manufacturing environments with hazardous and combustible materials preferred

 

Additional Training Requirements

Equivalent knowledge and experience accepted in lieu of education

Professional Certification (CSP, CSMP, CEP, CHMM, REM etc.) from nationally recognized organization preferred
